Mary Garcia
~violin~
Mary Garcia has lived in Kansas City since 1989 when she moved from New York to take a position as violinist with the Kansas City Symphony.
Originally from Emporia, Mary studied at Rice University and Queens College. Besides playing in the symphony, Mary teaches young violinists and plays baroque violin.
She also enjoys playing chamber music and is a founding member of Summerfest - a chamber music ensemble that performs at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in downtown Kansas City every July weekend. Before Summerfest, Mary spent her summers playing with the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra in Europe and the National Repertory Orchestra for its tour of the Far East in 1988. What Mary likes most about Kansas City are the fountains, the boulevards, the lights, her house and garden, and her cat Eugene.
